He married Rebecca B. _____ (b. 24 Aug 1808, Long Island, NY and d. 13 Oct 1883) before 1835, Long Island, NY. They were living in Galloway, Atlantic, NJ at the time of the 1850 US Census and William is listed as a laborer. The surname is indexed in the 1850 census as William Van Wickler, although a close check of the actual image leaves the last letter open to question. There is something after the e, but whether an r or n is uncertain.

Children: Charles^8 Van Wickler, b. abt. 1835, Long Island, NY. He married Phebe^9 Van Wickler, dau. of his first cousin, Foster^8 Van Wickler; Sarah^8 J. Van Wickler, b. abt. 1839, Long Island, NY; Susan^8 Van Wickler, b. abt. 1841, Long Island, NY; Lucinda^8 Van Wickler, b. abt 1843, Long Island, NY; Cornelia^8 Van Wickler, b. abt 1844, Long Island, NY; Maria^8 Van Wickler, b. abt 1848, New Jersey; Henry^8 A. Van Wickler, [b. 1853, NY and d. 1924] married Caroline Van Wickler, dau of Foster^8 and Mary Ann (Ryder) Van Wickler. Henry A. is found in 1920 US Census, age 66, with wife Caroline and brother, Nathaniel Van Wickler. Henry is captain of a coasting vessel, and Nathaniel is a planter. Henry and Caroline had at least one son, John Andrew Van Wickler, b. Nov. 1873. John Andrew had at least one son, Frank Percival Van Wickler.

1870 US Census for Hempstead, Queens, NY lists William Van Wickliffe, 64, Bayman (b. abt 1805, NY) with wife, Rebecca, 56, keeping house (b. abt 1814, NY) and children: Maria, 22, Tailoress, and Henry A., 18, Bayman.

"A branch of the family using the spellings Van Wickler/Van Wicklar descends from an Evert Van Wicken (1775-1852) of Jamaica, and Hempstead who appears to be connected to the line of Evert^3 (Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes) though the link has never been proved.

20 May 2003 email from Ruth Krems claims that her husband's grandfather was Frank Percival Van Wickler whose father was John Andrew Van Wickler, whose father was Henry A. Van Wickler. She claims a birth month and year of Nov. 1873 for John A. Van Wickler.

1850 US Census for Galloway, Atlantic, NJ for Galloway Twp, Atlantic, NJ lists William Van Wickler, 45, laborer, with wife Rebecca, 35, and children, Charles, 14, Sarah J., 10, Susan, 8, Lucinda, 6, Cornelia, 5, and Maria, 1.

19 April 2012 email from Diane Matthews provides information from the Lawrence Cemetery Restoration Project and the Lawrence ME Church records: VAn Wicklin, Rebecca B. August 24, 1808, died October 13, 1883. Erected by her daughters Anna Francis and Cornelia Pettit. Plot owner is listed as William Van Wicklen. Also from the same record: Van Wickler, Henry A. 1853-1924 and Van Wickler, Caroline [no dates] in same plot as Henry.
